Managers Report

Fellow Phillies,
Congratulations to all of us on our first sweep in Montco Phillies history! We shut down the Mustangs in game 1 in easy fashion, winning 7-1, and we came back from 4 runs down to win game 2, 7-6. I am really proud of how we didn't give up in game 2 and fought our way back into the game after falling behind 4-0. Our bats really came alive this weekend as we knocked out 21 hits in the 2 games, which helped to move our team batting average ahead of 2 teams. We have been steadily hitting better as the season has progressed, so let's keep that trend going. Baker had a great first game on the mound, and Phil came on in game 2 to pitch a great game in 5 innings of relief. The stolen base crown race also heated up over the weekend, as Justin swiped 3 bases in game 2 alone to pull within 1 of the league's leading base stealer, Ryan Golderer (10 SBs). It should be interesting to see how this plays out. BTW, we lead the league in stolen bases with 45 in only 15 games (the second place Reds have 39 in 17 games).

Nick Cataldi had a great weekend in his final 2 games with the team, going 3-4 with 3 runs and an RBI. Nick will be missed, and we all thank him for the contributions he made to our team this year. We look forward to having him back in the fall.

The next weekend we have a major revenge set against the Reds at Liberty Bell Field. We owe them at least one game for getting screwed out of a win by the umpire several weeks ago. We are the host team, so BP is at 8:30 am. Please be at the field by 9 am if you don't want BP, and please let me know if you are running late or if you can't make the game at all. So far, we are only going to be missing Bechtel this weekend, as he will be off having "fun" in Hong Kong. Let's keep the win streak rolling!

See you Sunday,
Brian
